Sage is the award-winning social-entrepreneur founder of Words Liive and the 2022 Milken-Penn Education Business Grand Prize Winner! Sage is also a 2025 Pahara Fellow, a 2023 a16z Talent x Opportunity entrepreneur, and a 2021 Aspen Institute Tech Policy Fellow. As an ‘edtech entrepreneur’, Sage was selected as a 2021 Elite 200 GSV Cup Startup, 2020 AfroTech World Finalist, 2020 Harvard Alumni Launch Lab Accelerator Fellow, 2020 Education Pioneers Fellow, and a 2018 AT&T Aspire Entrepreneur. Sage is currently piloting the Words Liive High Impact Tutoring programs in small-to-mid sized school districts across the country. He is a current graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and is also a 2017 graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, where he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on Social Innovation. Sage was awarded the 2022 Educator Innovator of the Year by Montgomery College’s BOND Academy.
Sage has been featured four times at the South by Southwest Conference, where Words Liive was named among the Top 3 new EdTech start-ups. Sage also presented and performed at the TEDx MidAtlantic Conference and was a Keynote speaker at the IB (International Baccalaureate) Americas Conference.
Ever expanding his goal of community education, Sage has designed, facilitated, and taught Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation programs for Howard University, Georgetown University, Montgomery College, and Prince George’s Community College. Mr. Salvo was selected as the Kennedy Center’s Digital Education Consultant and has authored opinion pieces in the Washington Post and EdSurge. He’s been featured in FORBES, Inc. Magazine, NPR, and The Washington Post, among others. He is also the author of the forthcoming book, Inseparable, And Unequaled: How Brown v. Board of Education set up an education culture war.
